Decorative Wave

Welcome to February. We have a busy month ahead of us and the staff and I would like to share some of it with you. Please make note of all the activities so you will be up to speed with all going on this month.

Calendar

Feb. 14th – Valentine’s Day Party {10:30-11:30} Children only Feb. 20th- President’s day {school closed}

Hey! Let’s have a party

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, we will have a party on Tuesday, Feb. 14th, from 10:30-11:30. All children are invited to participate. We ask each child to bring 35 valentines with his/her name signed on each card and for the infant/toddler classroom. If you like to participate, please bring 20 cards. Please do not address the envelopes. If you would like to provide a treat, please let us know. This will be a cookie and punch or juice party only.

Besides our Valentine’s Day Party, we will also be studying some U.S. history in conjunction with Presidents Day.

February Curriculum

During this month, the children will be starting a new unit in cultural studies – Zoology. We will be learning about the animals of the continents with the concepts of Vertebrates and Invertebrates, Living and Non-Living, and parts of some mammals and birds.

Sharing

Each child is assigned a sharing day once a week. Please encourage your child to plan for one special item to bring from home. Books, tapes, a science or educational item, etc. are great staring items. Thanks!

Arrival and pick up time

It is very important that children enrolled in the full day or half day morning program are arrive promptly by 9:00 am. It is often disruptive to the concentration of the other children and it is not fair to the teacher conducting circle or class time with a continual stream of children and adults coming through the classroom during circle or work time. We understand that circumstances may occasionally prevent your child from arriving on time. If this is the case, please enter the classroom as quietly as possible from the back door.

Also, pick up time; it is very important that you pick up your child on time. School is scheduled to close at 6:00 pm and children MUST be picked up no later than 5:45 so the teacher will have time to finish the closing process. Also, children and staff are not insured after 6:00 pm, therefore, the center is not responsible for any accident after 6:00 pm.

Finally, is very important during the evening pick up time; parents please don’t let your children touch any materials on the shelves. Every day before we leave, we organize the curriculum on the shelves, and sometimes when we come in the following morning, we find some of the materials mixed or missing. Please make sure that if your child took some materials home, to return it back to the school because any missing jobs can’t stay on the shelves until it’s complete again.

We appreciate your help and cooperation in maintaining the school curriculum.

Thank you for taking the time to read this news letter. We appreciate all your support. Please let us know if any of us can assist you or your family in any way.

Happy Valentine’s Day & Happy President’s Day!
