Dear Parents,
Welcome to November! We all survived the ghosts and goblins of Halloween so now we will focus on Thanksgiving and the history of this great nation.
October was a busy month at Arbor View Montessori School. Many thanks to all the parents who drove to the pumpkin patch and helped with Halloween party. The children had great fun searching for their perfect pumpkins and going on the hay ride!
The children looked wonderful in their school-logo T shirts. Every Wednesday our spirit day and all children and staff is required to wear their logo shirt to school. Thanks!

TUITION REMINDER: Tuition is due on the first day of each month and is late after the fifth. If the first or the fifth is on a weekend, please make sure that you pay on Friday. If tuition received after the fifth, a $25.00 late fee will be added to your tuition. Thank you for your consideration!
THANKSGIVINGS FEAST: WE ALL GIVE THANKS
On Wednesday, November 22nd, we will honor the Thanksgiving Holidays with our annual feast and time of sharing. The party will be held from 11:00 – 12:30 P.M. All parents are invited to attend and share in the Thanksgiving feast. We will post a sign-up sheet for food the week before the party.
NOVEMBER CURRICULUM
The children have been working and playing very hard and learning new skills. During the month of November, we are continuing our study of the science and physical geography as well as learning about the early settlers of North America and more specifically, the pilgrims at Plymouth Colony and the first Thanksgiving.
LANGUAGE
We are continuing with our sound of the week activities in order to prepare the pre-reading students for phonics-based activities and to reinforce phonetic sounds for those beginning and intermediate readers. The children have been introduced to the first group of letters and phonics which is called the group of the letter “a” with four more consonants. They practiced writing the letters c, t, a, g, m, and p, and we are practicing making three letter words, sounding, reading, and writing the words such as: cat, mat, map, tap, pat, and cap.
Please practice reading the words with your children at home. Work with your child and ask your child to think of words that identify with objects that correspond to these letters. Again, this month, the children are learning the second group of letters; it’s the group of the letter “o” focusing on the following “letters of the week”: d, o, g, n, and r.
Remember that the children learn the letters by their phonetic sound.

Five fat turkeys were sitting on a fence

The second one said, AI can gobble at you.
The third one said,” I can gobble, too.
The fourth one said,” I can spread my tail.
The fifth one said, “Don’t catch it on a nail.
A farmer came along and stopped to say
“Turkeys look best on Thanksgiving Day!”
