Benefits of the Pouring Activity

Decorative Wave

Carrying the water in a pitcher and pouring it into a basin helps the child to perfect his coordination. At Arbor View Montessori Practical Life Exercises involve the use of water with which most children naturally like to play.  As children become absorbed in an activity such as pouring water, the activity gradually helps lengthen their span of coordination.  You don’t usually find these types of activities at daycare and preschools. Montessori activities help children learn to pay attention to details and follow a regular sequence of action.  Finally, children learn good working habits as they finish each task and put away all their material before beginning another activity.
