October Newsletter

Decorative Wave

Fall is here and we have planned exciting fall curriculum and events. The children are already adjusting to their school routine and happy to see some of their old friends and make new ones. Thank you for entrusting Arbor View Montessori to support you in the developmental goals for your children.

I am looking forward to getting to know each of you this year. Please let us know how we can continue help you in order to make your child’s school experience a positive one.

Thank you for your support and participation in our school. Parent support is what makes Arbor View Montessori such a special place to be!

Weather Change Reminder: Every child must have a rain coat and rain boots to leave at the school so your child can go out and plays if the playground is wet. Please make sure to label all your child’s belongings. Thanks!

Sincerely, Lydia Arraf Saadeh Administrator

October 18: Field Trip to the Pumpkin Farm
October 31: Halloween Party

October Curriculum

During the month of October, the children will be discussing Columbus Day and International Children’s Day as part of our physical and social geography studies. Currently the children are learning the concepts of calendar terms, the four seasons, the twelve months of the year, numbers and colors.

In language, we are introducing the sound of the week every Tuesday. Please practice the sounds of each letter with your children daily.

October Finger Play:

5 little pumpkins sitting on a fence
The first one said, “My it’s getting late”.
The second one said, “Shh, I hear a noise”.
The third one said, “Oh, it’s just some silly boys”.
The fourth one said, “They’re having Halloween fun”.
The fifth one said, “Quick we’d better run”. And the wind went “oooooo” and out went the lights
And they all ran away on a Halloween night!

Fall Field Trip:

Our first field trip for the year will be to the Pumpkin Farm in Citrus Heights. This is a popular event, so don’t miss it! It is scheduled for Wednesday October 18th. The trip to the pumpkin farm offers plenty of fun and some unique learning opportunities begin with an introduction to the farm’s history. Your trip will include:

  • A tractor hayride out to the pumpkin fields where each child and chaperone will pick a pumpkin, and a walk through the corn maze.
  • Free time to visit the farm birds and animals such as the sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys, geese, ducks, chicken, the haunted barn and more.

All children need to come appropriately dressed. The school logo T shirt is required for every child. Also all children’s lunches must be in a paper bag. (Please, No lunch boxes or thermoses). We will leave the school promptly at 9:30 and return no later than 1:30 p.m. If your child is two or a young three years old, we require that a parent or an authorized person attend with the child. School logo shirts are available in the office for $12.00.

The Infant/Toddler Center will stay open during the field trip only for the little ones. Not for the preschool children.

The cost for the field trip is $8.00 per child, and $8.00 per adult. Please return the permission slip with the money attached by Monday, October 16th. Thanks and Happy Halloween!
